Sound Connect for the Mac, minus the phone.
A menu bar app that talks to your headset directly over Bluetooth, in Sony's own protocol. No phone, no account, no cloud.

01 spec sheet
Most of Sound Connect, none of the phone.
The UI is built from the function list the headset reports, so you only see what your model supports. Other MDR v2 headsets (WH-1000XM6, WF-1000XM5, LinkBuds) should mostly work. Nobody has tried yet. If you do, tell me.

Don't expect
Some of Sound Connect runs on the phone or on Sony's servers, not in the headset. Those parts aren't here, at least for now.

02 the wire
Every setting is sixteen bytes or so.
This is what goes out when you pick Ambient Sound, level 12, with Focus on Voice. Every command is a frame like this over RFCOMM. The app waits for the ack and retransmits if it doesn't come.

03 install it
One command, no Apple account.
You need macOS 26 and your headphones already paired in System Settings.
$ brew install gergogyulai/tap/open1000xMenu bar only, and mdrctl lands on your PATH. macOS asks for Bluetooth access on first launch. Not notarized: without Homebrew, grab the zip from releasesand allow it once under Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
